Carter G. Woodson Middle Campus
University of Chicago Charter School

Jarred Brown is the director at the University of Chicago Charter School Carter G. Woodson Campus. After completing a one year residency at Burnham elementary on Chicago's southeast side, Brown accepted a position as director of North Kenwood/Oakland new middle school campus. The small middle school that developed under his guidance became the model for Carter G. Woodson.

Previously, Brown taught for eight years as a 7th/8th grade language arts teacher. After several years in the classroom, Brown was selected as a New Leaders for New Schools Fellow. This opportunity opened the door for him to relocate to Chicago and begin working in urban schools.

Brown received a B.A. in middle school education from Illinois State University in 1995. While working as a teacher he also completed a M.A. in education administration.
