Tynia Burton is an induction coach and foundations year instructor and advisor for the University of Chicago Urban Teacher Education Program.
Burton provides on-site, individualized coaching to UChicago UTEP graduates during their first three years in Chicago Public Schools, and co-leads the Foundations year Soul Strand for first-year candidates. She also advises first year interns, facilitates affinity groups and symposia, and coordinates diversity support, including mentoring programs.
Burton received an M.A. in child and family law from Loyola University, an in M.A. education administration from St. Xavier University, and a B.A. in education from St. Xavier University. Prior to joining UChicago UTEP, Burton served in Chicago Public Schools for 15 years as a teacher and an assistant principal.
